Simplify Your Email and To-Do List
Posted by Adam Pash at 5:00 AM on April 10, 2008
As a follow-up to Gina's guest post on decluttering your email at weblog Unclutterer, blogger Stowe Boyd details how he keeps his email and to-do list in check with Gmail and the popular to-do webapp Remember the Milk. Using the previously mentioned Remember the Milk Firefox extension for Gmail, Boyd ties all of his actionable to-dos with emails directly within Gmail. It's a smart and simple system, so if you've been looking for a better way to integrate your to-do list and your email, it's definitely worth checking out. If you've got your own methods that do the trick for you, let's hear about them in the comments.

Is there a way to do projects or subtasks in RTM?

IF I am not mistaken he is basically just explaining how to use gmail/RTM with GTD. For those of us already familiar the Gmail/RTM/GTD combo, this is nothing new. I already basically this but don't honestly have a lot of todo's from my email.
For those that haven't seen this before though, I am sure it is welcome advice.

Can this bring in all of your different email accounts?

first of all. I use gmail + RTM and love the combo!
to answer 4ster's question. You can create multiple to-do lists in RTM and use those as your projects. therefore you can categorize an action or to-do item under one of those lists/projects

You have to look at NetCentric's GTD for Outlook add-in. Not cheap, but it is extremely effective!

@4ster: I use tagging and smart lists to handle that. That way my tasks "float" so I can have them jammed into a list with due dates but if suddenly I'm working on a website and I want to see what other tasks I need to do I can just use a smart list or the tag on the task. Same goes for like bills... they are all in my @Soon list but I have a bills smart list so when I go to pay my bills I can pull up the whole list of bills and do several at a time.
I really should do a writeup on how I use twitter and remember the milk in my every day life because it seriously has saved me from mental break down.

My trick involves setting up your own groupware server. I know this isn't something that everyone will want to spend time doing, but I really detest web 2.0 apps that provide services, which would be readily available, if not for the internet diverging from it's original and better designs.
There's just something about putting all of my personal information on public servers that gives me the creeps.
