Check Home Prices on Your Cell Phone
US-centric :Ever drive by a house for sale and wonder what the price is? Find out on the spot using voice transcription service Jott and real estate valuation search engine Zillow. You'll need to register at Jott (it's free), and to set up a Zillow link within your Jott account. Once that's done, you can call Jott on your cell phone and speak the address of the home to get back a text message or email with the "Zestimate," Zillow's valuation. Hit the play button on the link to hear how Jott and Zillow work together to help you hunt for real estate.

now in nj it is illegal to text OR call :-)

That would probably be pretty useful if zillow's estimate system weren't stuck in 2006 bubble world. Seriously, they show houses around here at 400,000-450,000 that have been sitting on the market for 6+ months with asking prices around 300,000.

@Ideapimp: Calling in the information while you are out on the road is MUCH easier than trying to text the information in while driving. Yes, it would be more accurate if you could text the information in, but as far as safety goes, phoning it in works.

Wouldn't this be a helluva lot easier if you could just text it? Seems like the long way around.

I love how people have "just discovered" Jott and all the services you can now tie in. [Twitter, Zillow, Google Calendar, etc.]
That's fine - I mean I'm glad that the application is finally getting some attention as it is a great service to use in conjunction with other excellent online services.
But don't act like it is new.

Just did this on my house... The values are wholly inaccurate (as is the information on bedrooms and bathrooms strangely). Hmm...

Doing this in my neighborhood is just depressing. The housing market in Brooklyn is still through the roof, economic downturn or no. But at least I can find out just how far I'm priced out of the market in style!

If you've got an iPhone, you can try HiHome at [www.tippytops.net] , which is a Zillow-API based system that will return the Zestimate for any street address + city, state or zip. Don't try it while you're driving, though -- the Jott / Zillow thing will let you keep your eyes on the road, at least.
