Get Things Done with Quicksilver and GeekTool
Posted by Adam Pash at 10:00 AM on March 8, 2008
Blogger Leo Babauta rounds up five great GTD applications for the Mac, then finishes off the post highlighting his own homespun setup, which uses a combination of the Quicksilver append action and the text-embedded desktop tool, GeekTool. When all is said and done, this setup will allow you to quickly and easily add tasks to your to-do lists through Quicksilver without losing focus on what you're doing, then display those items on your desktop for easy reviewing with GeekTool. It's a simple but effective setup, so if that sounds appealing to you, head over to Zen Habits for a full introduction.

Sounds good, but how do you delete things with quicksilver? Have to open TextEdit?

I don't use quicksilver as much with the new spotlight in leopard, but i'll have to give this a try.

I have always admired and liked the simplicity of this approach. But isn't a little...um...self referential... to blog to an external post that itself blogs back to an old Lifehacker post? Newcycling?

I have a feeling this could be greatly enhanced by some perl scripts. Time to go learn perl and write them :)

I prefer Taskpaper for input and management (but still use GeekTool for display).
Windows users: Slickrun for Quicksilver, Samurize for GeekTool.
