Copy and Paste Text for Later Use with Textsnip
Posted by Kevin Purdy at 12:00 AM on March 8, 2008
Need to send a line of text too long for an instant message, but don't feel like dashing off an email? Find some text you want access to later while using someone else's computer or a remote connection? Textsnip, a free text-capture site that provides TinyURL-like links, has you covered. Throw in the text (or HTML, CSS, PHP or most any kind of formatted code), and TextSnip will put it into a URL, tabbed spacing preserved. Depending on how quickly you email and whether you mind sending to yourself, TextSnip is either redundant or an inbox-saving memory enhancer. TextSnip is free to use, no sign-up required. Thanks Julie!

If it's code, you'll probably want to use PasteBin ([pastebin.com]) It's especially handy when you're discussing something on IRC.

Internet accessible; oh snap, I forgot my thumbdrive/.txt file/whatever.
Why not use both? :>
Is there a bookmarklet yet? i could see that being handy...

But notepad does not support colored indentation. Being a java learner , i program using eclipse IDE. This is a nice way of sharing code with my mates.
pastebin.com deletes your data from their server after the time you specify.

If you use Firefox, try the TiddlySnip extension ([tiddlysnip.com]).
From the site:
---------------
TiddlySnip is a Firefox extension that lets you use your TiddlyWiki as a scrapbook! Simply select text, right click and choose 'TiddlySnip selection'. Next time you open your TiddlyWiki file, your snippets will be there, already tagged and organised.
--------------
Also auto includes a link to the website where you copied it from.
Meanwhile I am here at work, forced to use IE.

If it isn't personal or sensitive info I use the shorttext.com firefox extenstion. Just highlight text in browser and right click and select send to short text. That or the Google notepad extension. I suppose his helps when you aren't on a pc with those extensions but can't see how it is different from a pastebin.
