Keep Better Tabs on Bills with BillReminder

Linux only: BillReminder might seem like an unnecessary tool in the age of ubiquitous calendars, but the free Linux app lets you determine exactly when and how you get reminded about your monthly obligations, and helps you visualise and keep notes on each one. Once you've set up your bills into colour-coded categories, you can set the amount due, leave yourself notes on how (or maybe why) they should be paid, and then have BillReminder tell you about them at specific intervals—in case you only need a day or two for electricity, but would like a week's warning on that hefty cable charge. BillReminder is a free download for Linux systems only.

I've been using BillQ (www.mybillq.com) for a year or so now and have been very happy with it. You put in the schedule of bills, when they're due, how much they are, etc, and it emails you to remind you to pay them.
You can check bills off if you pay them in advance so you don't get the notice for that particular bill, which is nice. It's simple, doesn't require much attention or any software installation, and keeps me paying my bills on time.

Just curious: How many Lifehacker readers are like me when it comes to paying bills?
I put my bills in a box when they come in the mail, and the next time I get paid, I pay whatever I need to pay, and refile the ones that can wait until my next paycheck.
Since I never need to be reminded of when I get paid, I don't need yet another ToDo crowding my calendar, or yet another calendaring app to tell me when my bills are due.

I use a google calendar to track my bills. In the comments I leave how much I should pay, the web site to pay them at, a hint to my username, a hint to my password, and my hints to my answers to special secutiry questions. I also have email reminders set up to pay the bills, but I pay all my bills every two weeks when I get paid.

I put my bills and the amounts due in RememberTheMilk - the day they are due RTM sends me an email and I say "ok." and pay them online. Most of my bills are setup with automatic online bill pay anyway though.

I just pay my bills when I get them. My short term goal is to go paperless. So far my car insurance is paperless. I just get an e-mail reminder directly from them. Then I log on to their website and pay with a credit card. Also, my wireless provider e-mails me when my bill is ready. One of their stores is near my work, so I just walk over and pay in person. Pretty easy.

I'm like Eric, I've been using billQ for a while now. I use the rss feed it gives with my 30boxes account. One look at 30boxes and I can tell what's due and when, and if I need to transfer from savings, or just go ahead and pay something.
