Get Instant Tracking Notifications When People Click on a URL

If you've ever sent out an email or link to a friend and wanted to know if they actually clicked on the link, webapp LinkBlip will inform you. LinkBlip is an easy-to-use application that notifies you by email as soon as someone clicks on a shortened URL that is generated by the service. Additionally, general geographic information is listed so that you know where the person is located. While LinkBlip has potential for large scale mail blasts, it only works once—so that you're not emailed multiple times if your friends decide it's fun to click on the link again and again. LinkBlip is free and requires a valid email address for registration and to review the status of the link.

Great. Maybe those annoying "Did you look at that link I sent you, yet?" people will shut the hell up and wait for the email.

I have been using qurl.com for awhile now, but their geo-trace has never worked. I will be checking this out. I still give qurl.com the edge, as it allows for account creation, to monitor multiple urls together, and also track the display impressions on uploaded pictures.

I clicked on my own link and LinkBlip told me I live in Quebec ... I live near Niagara Falls.
Other than that, noteworthy.

This is similar to what the RIAA uses to track torrent file downloads. They embed a link which then emails your ISP and then you get a nice letter from your ISP (COMCAST) about their copyright infringement policy.

This is a great tool for the email sender, but part of me is thinking that it also has the potential of violating the privacy of the email receiver.

I just use [urlvi.be] - shows how many people clicked on it, and unique clicks too. Great for twitter / msn / emails / newsletters.

If you don't want to use a third-party service, this is pretty simple to implement in PHP, ASP, etc.

I have been using many other services just switched to new one spot.bz but linkblip is simple and easy concept.
