Sync Firefox Bookmarks with an iPhone/iPod Touch
Posted by Kevin Purdy at 1:00 AM on February 14, 2008
The CyberNet blog tackles an annoyance that any (Windows-using) iPhone or iPod touch owner likely noticed within minutes of setting up their new device in iTunes—no support for syncing Firefox bookmarks. The solution, CyberNet suggests, lies in seamlessly coordinating your Internet Explorer bookmarks (built into Windows) with Firefox. Luckily, a few extensions have this covered, including the two-way BooKKit, and SyncMarks, already pointed out by a commenter, which one-way syncs from Firefox to IE favorites. Of course, a browser-neutral solution could likely be worked up with a syncing solution as well. Got a better idea on how to integrate Firefox bookmarks into your Apple device? Share your solutions in the comments.

I don't really visit that many sites on my Touch, so the ones I frequent I already have bookmarked.
Though, I can see this maybe being useful for an iPhone, because of the whole, always internet thing.

I export my bookmarks from Firefox to a .html file and copy it up to my webserver where it's available to anywhere that I am. I created a shortcut to it on my Touch, bingo!. Every once in a while I'll update the .html file, but my main sites (Lifehacker included :) never change, so the file is usually 90% valid...

I long ago dumped bookmark syncing for google bookmarks and the google toolbar. Seems it would be easy enough to point the iBrowser to google.com/bookmarks, and my guess is that there will be a google toolbar for it soon enough.

When I originally tried syncing my iPod Touch's bookmarks with Safari (on Windows Vista), it ended up copying over my bookmarks from Safari, Opera, and Firefox, for some reason. I didn't want to sync *all* of those bookmarks (as I've got a few hundred on Firefox, and wanted to use Safari primarily for iPod Touch syncing), so I ended having to just stick with Internet Explorer bookmark syncing.

I hate syncing bookmarks to my iPod Touch. Every time I did this, It would erase the bookmarks that I manually put on my device. I just like doing it by hand. For me, I just go to sites that I go to everyday, but which is limited at the moment because some have flash on them and I won't waste time adding those bookmarks to my device if I can't use flash.
Other than that, I do things by hand. I guess that is just the way I am. Syncing bookmarks is not something I like doing, nor syncing in general is my thing. I like things to be done manually, so that way, the only fault is on me and not the computer lol.
