If you're itching to give the new Firefox 3 Beta 3 a test-drive but don't want to muss up your Firefox 2 configuration, give the self-contained Firefox 3 Beta 3 Portable Edition a try (Windows only). Of course, running your current setup through MozBackup first couldn't hurt.

Or install SandBoxie and run the setup in a sandbox. The second you close firefox 3, t'is as it never existed on your computer. You can use this to test all installs beforehand.

or make a copy of the "mozilla" folder that's located on your "application data" folder and copy them back if something goes wrong.

Oh, is there one for Mac? I've always had probs finding the ProfileManager there, which is needed to create a differently working Firefox.

Mac users can follow the instructions at the link below to run Firefox 3 alongside their FF2 installation. The instructions are for Beta 2, but they work for Beta 3, as well.

Shameless plug, but you can just run Firefox 2 and 3 side by side with little work: [www.teamhackaday.com]
