Convert Media Files to Embeddable Flash with Moonk
Posted by Kevin Purdy at 1:40 AM on February 14, 2008

Moonk, a free Flash conversion application, serves as a one-stop shop to turn your photos, videos, or music into slick-looking embeddable boxes. Sure, YouTube and a wealth of other hosting sites can do much the same, but for those who don't want to add their videos or other media to a search-able site or mess with privacy settings, Moonk lets simply make your media files web-playable. New users get 500 MB of storage—pretty generous, considering the small size of the Flash output. I also like the uncluttered interface and straight-forward conversion tools, compared to similar tools of its kind. Moonk is a free service, but requires a sign-up to use.

I got this to work with FF3-beta3. Pretty cool but the uploading app that pops up needs to be streamlined a bit.

Anyone know where I can get a better embeddable mp3 player?

I had the same 'not able to sign up' issue as Lissakay in Firefox. IN IE it's still buggy but at least I was able to register. They need to straighten up their UI.
The concept is a nice one, but the application is very buggy. I've been looking for a flash mp3 player for my site to replace WMP, so I tried this out.
see [obelus.com], At the bottom.
The site offers different template to choose from and lets you host your files. Very cool.
Some things to that need to be changed:
First, it autoplays, so that kills the the idea of embedding more than one player on a page. I didn't see a parameter setting in the embed tag to turn that off.
The code it generates is gave me height and width as the same value, the height value of 50. Easy enough to manually change.
There's too much whitespace around the player and there's no way to adjust it. The flash player isn't centered in the white background. Better would be a transparent background.
A Moonk logo and link become part of the HTML that's generate. No biggie because it can be removed.
I'd like to be able to use their player with mp3s that are hosted on another site.

I was able to access it on Firefox, but after testing it by uploading one video... well, it's a pretty awful service. Don't think I'll be using it again.

Yes. Same with me. This website doesn't seem to work in Firefox.

I'd love to give it a try, but the sign in form flashes up for a second or two and then goes away. Anyone else having weird site issues there? (FF 2.0.0.12 on WinVista)
