Get eBay and Craigslist Spelling Ideas with TypoBuddy
Posted by Tamar Weinberg at 10:00 AM on February 4, 2008
Craft your eBay or Craigslist advertisements for people who are likely to misspell words or find great deals on expensive items by capitalising on sellers' misspellings. TypoBuddy is a website that performs a variety of searches on both eBay and Craigslist based on all possible spelling combinations and makes it easy for you to dig for great discounts. The simple search will show nearly every misspelling in the alphabet, but if you drill down to the Advanced search, you'll be able to fine-tune your searches to include typos with numbers and/or to exclude search terms of your choosing. You can also narrow down your search to specific price ranges or view listings on Craigslist that have pictures only (or Buy it Now! items on eBay). If you're in desperate need for a product and are looking to save big, TypoBuddy should be your first stop.

I've been using Fat Fingers for a while now [fatfingers.com] TypoBuddy is pretty much a web 2.0 version of it.

Ok, this is very cool! First it is a very handy tool for finding misspelled ebay auctions (and they are totally right, that is the best way to get a deal), but the addition of craigslist is genuis!
Even better one thing that always frustrated me about craigslist was that you could not search for coffee OR cofee OR coffe, since craiglist has no or functionality, but this some how works.
Bookmarked!

I knew of FatFingers.com, but I didn't think it accessed CraigsList.

Nice....now everyone can find the hidden treasures easily and there are no more "hidden deals".
Of course, this is nice for the people doing the selling.

I've seen this for ebay, but not craigslist too. Cool.

How can this be of any use? Once gobs of people get wind of it, the party's over.
Great idea - very poor implementation.

Yeah, this is just the same thing as Mistyped Auctions, only it just links you to eBay's search page instead of actually presenting the search.

Try using [www.gumshoo.com] which has more functionality.

It seems like a nice tool, but there are a lot of these in existence. Every once and a while you might get a good deal. Especially on craigslist. But to think that you are the only one who has thought of using a typo tool to find something good to buy will leave you disappointed.
There are a lot of people who use this type of thing, and they are searching for the same things as you. And there are a lot of people who just browse through listings as they end, and will find the thing you are searching for anyway.
Though they do cut down on some of the competition. I suggest using a sniping tool along with the typo buddy, so you do not draw attention to an item that has already been bid on.
Good luck
