Master Photoshop's "Select Color Range"
Posted by Gina Trapani at 7:00 AM on February 2, 2008
Funny guy screencaster Donnie Hoyle is back with a new episode in his "You Suck at Photoshop" series, and this one covers color range selection. Like the rest of the episodes, you might want to pop on the headphones to listen at work or in front of the kiddies. Hoyle's using Photoshop in Windows in this episode, and demonstrates how to expertly overlay a hammock onto a palm tree scene. Useful and hilarious. Here's episodes one through three, and here's episode four.

Ha "I can hear you breathing and clicking", yeah seems more for entertainment than actual educational purposes.

The phones ringing in the background were cool, though. ...especially if you watch with headphones on.

That was not funny, it was painfully unfunny and agonizingly drawn out while we were pitched - cigarette ads?!
The actual tutorial and description of what he was doing took a back seat to the failed haha.

#2 is still the best one.

I thought it was funny. I also think it's funny to fart on dogs and get children to pull my finger, so.

That was quite possibly the worst "tutorial" ever made. What a waste of my time and and insult to my sense of humor.

It's f***ing fantastic...why the internet was invented.
And, yes, it's not a Lynda.com video...sheesh.

Wow the sound is very impressive... you could hear the ringing and the talking as if it was behind you...

I haven't watched this one yet for lack of broadband at home, but in the previous one - what software do you think he used to record it? Great zooming in and out.

Their player and popup ads are most annoying.

sn4atchbuckl3r returns! (check the emails).
At least Donny can still get away for a few days, even if there's no nickle nipple nights!

I didn't get any pop ups the first time I watched it. But I did after that weird.
I think it is quite funny, and I learn couple little PS tricks along the way. it sure as hell beats most other PS tutorials where the guys voice is about to put me to sleep.

The whole series might be a viral campaign. Effective, but sneaky.
Phebco.com website, including a PhebCo People page that has a listing for Donnie Hoyle as "Associate Mgr., Dumping."

I laughed, I cried, and... I actually learned a new PS trick? You ROCK, Donny!

I'm seriously worried Dane Cook might actually be Donny. That would be awful, as I'd have to accept myself LIKING something from Dane Cook. If it is a viral, I wish they'd come out and say what they are. I don't get what they could be selling, aside from maybe manuals for photoshop...

While this is so damn funny, he needs to be a little more descript while he's on his comic relief.

@TVarmy: It sounds a lot more like David Cross than Dane Cook.

I'm guessing both David Cross and Dane Cook are involved. On the "People" page of Phebco's website, there are a couple people listed with names a little too similar to theirs ;)
Dane Nooktool (ES)
Transfer station/CCC, Financial Assurance, Processing facility permits and tires permitting

@TVarmy:
I'm pretty sure this is Paul Rudd. He's one of the actors working with/for/on MyDamnChannel, appearing in a few other of their vids as well.

My vote is that it is Troy Hitch from Big Fat Brain itself.
Listen to the commentary of the first episode of "Itty Bitty Liddy," and Troy sounds an awful lot like Donnie Hoyle.

Funny, great tutorial. Props to them for coming up with a fun way to learn photoshop. For all the naysayers, get a sense of humor :)
