Capture and Share Images Instantly with Skitch

Mac OS X only: Dead simple screenshot and image-sharing service Skitch, formerly in private beta, is now open to anyone to download and try out. Skitch is a Mac desktop application that talks to a webapp: sign up for a free account at Skitch.com, install the app, and publish, share, screengrab, and annotate images from your Mac instantly. Great for sharing and discussing images with friends and co-workers online, it's hard to explain just how easy Skitch is to use, so hit the play button above to see it in action. I just started playing with Skitch, and in about 15 seconds I took a screenshot of my desktop, annotated it, and uploaded it to my public Skitch page. Neat. Skitch is a free download for Mac only. (We can't wait to see this one for Windows.)

I totally heart skitch. It's by far the most intuitive mac program there is. I don't really know what makes it so easy to use, but it just sort of knows what you want to be doing when you do it, and makes it easy to do so.

Also, for games, I've been using [www.wegame.com] - it supports a lot of popular titles and is super-easy to record and upload. Very fast!

You don't have to upload to myskitch.com you can also have it auto-upload to and ftp/sftp site or to a flickr account, the coolest feature is that once you hit the "webpost" you'll watch it upload and then it will give you a "copy link" button to paste to friends. I love skitch! (I don't work for them I have just been in the beta a while.)

I was recently reading up on screen capture program suggestions from coworkers, and Skitch came up in the discussion. Jing Project, which is from TechSmith (the makers of Camtasia) and available for Windows, also did:

It looks more impressive than I expected. By the way, I noticed it also allows OpenID, which is becoming more popular these days.

Similar workflow for Windows: Press print-screen, image is in clipboard, run mspaint, paste, edit as necessary, select-all, copy, paste into email... not too much different.
Workflow on a Mac should be similar but I don't think there's a built-in paint program like Windows (note, I primarily use a Mac nowadays).

Skitch is quickly becoming one of my favorite Mac apps. It is so quick and easy, yet extremely powerful. The upload and sharing process is simple and intuitive.

While the graphics you can add to a screenshot aren't as cute as Skitch, it gets my vote because it also has a screencasting ability that automatically makes an FLV that you can share, and on screenshots it allows you to specify a Flickr photoset to upload to, while Skitch only allows you to upload to Flickr (no photoset option). As stated above, Jing is already available for Windows.

i've been using skitch for the last 6+ months and i'll echo some of the other sentiments shared on this post. skitch is absolutely awesome. incredibly intuitive and great for marking up comps to quickly share with coworkers/friends/etc.
