Skin Thunderbird to Look Like Leopard Mail
Posted by Gina Trapani at 3:30 AM on January 17, 2008

All platforms running Thunderbird: Dress Thunderbird up to look just like Mac OS X's Mail application with the Leopard Mail T-bird theme. Download the theme (right-click and choose "Save Link As") and install it using Thunderbird's Add-ons dialog box. Unlike the previously posted Apple Mail Theme, this theme works in Thunderbird 2.0, but I did have trouble getting it to look just right on my Mac, so proceed with caution. The Leopard Mail theme is a free download for Thunderbird 2.0+ only.

Thanks for the warning on this one. I tried another one of the Mac-style themes and it made it almost unreadable. I still have yet to find a theme that's better than the standard Thunderbird theme, which is passable but a little boring.

I tried this out briefly and made a mess of thing. I will have to sit down and try later while paying attention and time to the process. Its hardly a 1 click intuitive install. A bit of guidance would be nice.

I think I mentioned this in a thread from December.

I'm sure one day I will discover the usefulness o desktop email client, but until that day, I will use Gmail.

@Myles: mee too, I don't think I install a mail app instead of using Gmail . It's fast and good enough :)
And you don't have to install your fav mail app everywhere :)

Anyone have any trouble with new messages displaying in bold? All my new messages are displayed normal, and I can't figure out how to get them back to bold with this theme. Help!

I recommend Cutebird which I've been using for more than a month now.

To relate to the topic, I actually prefer to skin Thunderbird with Microsoft Outlook [addons.mozilla.org] .
