Google Updates Their Mobile Interface, Adds iGoogle, Customizable
Posted by Lifehacker US Edition at 6:00 AM on January 16, 2008
Google already released a fast and friendly optimised mobile page for iPhone and iPod touch users, but now they're at it again. The mobile page is sporting an updated look, faster navigating, and improved auto-complete suggestions for everything from search to Gmail contacts. You can also customise tabs and use your iGoogle homepage from the mobile interface. You may be wondering why Google is so gaga for iPhone interfaces, but the fact is, when Google's Andriod phones hit the streets, they'll be running a similar WebKit-based browser, so even if you're not looking to buy an Apple product anytime soon, this interface may be in your future.

@link7: I'm having the same problems. However, if I go to "More" and select "Calendar" from there it takes me to the old version which gives me multiple calendars and quick add, but no monthly view. That is annoying.

Anybody else having trouble trying to view multiple calendars or not having the capability to add events.
If not, what's the point of the mobile calendar? The last version at least had a quick add capability.

Seems like Opera Mini 4 on my ATT Tilt/HTC 8925 would be a great place to be able to run this stuff. would go so well with PointUI.
Why still so much focus on the hypePhone google, especially when there are now demonstrably superior (imo) products on the market?
Goopple?
Googintosh?
Bah.

@TRSTN: Agreed, it's almost like Google is adopting harsh fanboyism. N95 still pwns the iPhone.

Gah, again, WHY oh why is this not available for other phones? Nokia's N95 runs WebKit, this is just annoying.

@Scott: Whats broken? Maybe it's that "chair to keyboard" interface...

Hey Google, how about you fix your broken products first?

Wow, clever one, dbag... The well-documented malfunctioning products, such as IMAP on WM6, Maps Mobile on MW6, Gmail Mobile App on WM6...

The new Google features are great though I can't seem to figure out how to get an agenda view in the Calendar anymore.
Also, isn't Google Notebook crippled by the iPhone/Touch having no cut and paste ability??

Also just noticed that I can use the Remember The Milk plugin on iGoogle without the need to subscribe to RTM Pro for iPhone.

Loving this new look. I did have both the Google Mobile and iGoogle pages bookmarked. This is much easier.
It's a shame that Google Analytics doesn't display though.

Yeah, multiple calendars are not showing up on my Google calendar, either. I can only see my main calendar. Other than that, sweet! I trust someone will figure this out in the next few days, Google is usually pretty fast with fixes. Anyone have any more info on this issue? Thx

@ahsrubbery: Only accessing the primary calendar definitely blows. Hopefully they rectify this soon.

"http://www.google.com/m/products" is the home page I use on my N800 - very light, non-Java, home page for simplified versions of Google services like Calendar and Gmail.

@JDOREE: Using my old bookmark, I can still get into the "old" google calendar pane. Works for now, hopefully a fix soon, as month view is a cool feature.
