LeopardMOD Edits Hidden OS X Settings
Posted by Lifehacker US Edition at 11:00 AM on January 15, 2008
Mac OS X Leopard only: On the heels of our Leopard power tweaks feature earlier today, desktop utility LeopardMOD offers a graphical interface to several Terminal settings. Customise Finder, the Dock, Menu Bar, Dashboard, Safari, and more using LeopardMOD's kinda ugly but serviceable tabbed interface. My favorite mods include turning off Dashboard, making the menu bar opaque, and displaying the full folder path in Finder windows. Check out all of LeopardMOD's settings in the gallery below. LeopardMOD is a free download for Macs running Leopard only.

All of these hacks and tweaks were available already in other apps or via the Terminal. But it's nice to see them all gathered into one application with a nice clean interface. Needs a better icon design though!

To all those Leopard users out there: is there a way to make *all* of my Finder windows one uniform size?

I desperately need this feature for the dock.
Is there anyway similar open application windows (running the same app) when minimized can be group in an "icon" on nthe dock, a la XP?
Spaces does not seem to be a solution. While when maximizing the windows, the windows go their appropriate virtual desktop when minimized they reside on the dock in each virtual desktop.
I have been searching all over google and it seems the solution involves proxy icons but there was no command given how to use that. Plus can this method automatically segregate app windows into groups based on the app running?

I wrote the author of this utility (Carter Allen) about adding "Disable Safe Sleep" as one of the things it could do and here's waht he replied to me:
"To let you in on a small secret, LeopardMOD will not be being updated again...
But it's big brother, xMod, will be out fairly soon. Prepare to see this exact feature in xMod!"

IHATEMACOSX,
First off, its ironic that you're asking for help on mac stuff :-)
Secondly, I think you can use Expose (the app specific one usually tied to F10 key) to manage application windows.
It is not the same process as in XP, but I find it's about as quick. I hated the "bubbling" features, and prefer tabs (which OSX still doesn't support for Finder, but hey).
