except that anyone saying "can't even hold a drumstick properly" needs to remember that not every drummer holds their sticks or plays the same way... I'm a drummer and I don't use traditional grips... I also don't cross stick. at all. leaving me having to play with lefty flip turned on in rock band... and it doesn't help the drums are incredibly unresponsive... while RB won't teach you to PLAY the drums, it can certainly give you a solid foundation to build on

I agree with warped...I played the drums and Rockband Drums is very easy...but I doubt it'd be the otherway around

as a real drummer, i'm tired of people saying that playing the drums in rock band is practically identical to the real thing. most people who sit down to play rock band can't even hold a drumstick properly (and after a year or two will probably be on the way to needing wrist surgery) or play any basic rudiments.

I've gotta drumbstick; wheres the wings!
I didn't play any percussion instrument in high school or at all. I was a trombonist. get off of your high horse and realize you're more than likely the same as all of us.

I agree with Kahartik. As a drummer, the Rock Band drum stuff seems very easy, but it is a pretty good foundation for those interested in learning to play the drums. I do think these tips should've been included in the game though, with maybe some pictures and diagrams with different grips and techniques.
Then there's just the plain frustration of having to play fast notes on the RB drums. They just read all the hits. The only way I've found it'll register all of them is to hit the notes as if you were playing the rim of a real drum.

How to become an awesome drummer in both Rock Band and real life in three easy* steps:
Step One: Fix the pedal.
Step Two: Learn independence from Gary Chester.
Step Three: You're a drummer!
*Step Two not actually easy.

I find it incredibly sad that the friends that will turn to me after I get a 93% on my first try at Rock Band drums on "expert" and tell me how awesome I am are the same friends that won't come out to see my band play a show.

I don't understand the fervor for Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Seems really boring and lame. They're like Dance Dance Revolution - for your fingers. Get some REAL instruments instead of nerding out over a silly fad.
