Good manners start with good intentions. Etiquette experts postulate that writing thank you notes increases the frequency and quality of gifts you receive. But what if you're stuck and don't know what to write? The Thank You Note Samples site covers nearly every imaginable topic to give thanks for, from acknowledging the receipt of charity donations to expressing appreciation for hospitality arrangements to thanking your potential employer for an interview. Multiple letter formats are available to add variety (especially if you're spending the night writing the same monotonous notes due to a recent wedding). Additionally, the suggestions go a step beyond just the written word. Why not give thanks, for example, with a gift basket? If you want to express your gratitude and feel like you are not inspired, the Thank You Note Samples site will definitely get you back on your toes and you'll be filled with ideas for expressing appreciation.

When I was a wee lad, my parents would hound me for weeks after birthdays and Christmas to write thank you cards. I hated it.
But as an adult, it's so engrained in me now that I always immediately send hand-written, personal thank you thanks for every gift or gesture I receive. Not only does the recipient appreciate it, but it makes me feel good, too!

My wife gets credit for teaching our kids early to always write thank-you notes (even for small things). It seems to be, unfortunately, a dying practice.

@cbartlett: I'm with you, as a kid I hated sitting at the kitchen table and writing thank you note after thank you not after the holidays and such. As an adult now, I'm horrified by not sending thank you notes. My wife's family doesn't send thank you notes amongst themselves, and I've never been able to get over that. I still send them! =)

Writing thank you notes for gifts is important, but a more potentially life changing thank you note is the one that job seekers should write following an interview or a networking meeting. People like to know that you appreciated their time and effort. Since many job seekers are not writing notes, you will really stand out and leave a positive impression!
