Build a PVC Pipe Laptop Stand

If you don't want to drop cash on a pricey laptop stand like the Elevator, snap together your very own with some PVC pipe and joints. Instructables user alceste shows you how. The result isn't adjustable like commercial ones (boo), but it does let you hide cables inside the pipe (neat!).

You can also buy yourself a letter tray and use it upside down as a laptop stand. It's sold by most stores, like Office Depot, Walmart, etc.

Fifteen to twenty bucks will get you a decent-looking metal notebook stand (I have an Allsop one) and you won't have to bask in PVC fugliness. You don't need to spend the forty bucks on the Elevator.

I used my son's plastic tinkertoys: you can adjust the angle, or take it apart and take the pieces with you. A lot less work than with PVC, too.

The best part? They didn't even bother to photoshop the pic to make the stand stand the laptop level. Nice touch.

wouldnt the static electrisity charge that PVC pipe is known for getting, shock the laptop and possobly destroy it.. i mean its a slight chance but still...?

I can't believe you all! Ikea sells the perfect stand for $6. It fits most laptops. Here's a picture [bp3.blogger.com] Also, just go to ikeahacker on blogspot and they have many cheap suggestions if this one doesn't do it for you. Go to [ikeahacker.blogspot.com] . A pbs pipe stand! Man oh man. This would be good for someone aspiring to be a plumber perhaps. :)

Got a nice wheeled laptop stand with a tiltable top and a separate mouse platform at Walgreen's for about $15.

I just use a couple of big books...
