Google Offers "Privacy Tips" Video Instructions
Posted by Kevin Purdy at 2:10 AM on December 21, 2007
The folks at Google have put together a series of videos that explain the private and not-so-private features of applications like Google Calendar, Picasa Web Albums and phone number look-ups and instruct users on how to change and opt out of them. Long-time Lifehacker readers may have seen a few of these tips before, but they make good explainers for co-workers and relatives. And until Google rolls out a convenient, all-in-one privacy manager, keeping on top of what Google is and isn't sharing with the world is the best thing a privacy-savvy user can do.

I wish YouTube provided some sort of video transcription facility. Useful information is even more useful when it's written down.

@rickshelton: exactly. i hate watching videos to get my info. maybe it's better for granma' but I would prefer if they had a written down list.

Can anyone verify the rumor that GMail NEVER really deletes messages (even if the user does.) That retention policy is the only thing that keeps me from moving to GMail.
Thanks!

I'm ok with getting my information from the video but I'm shocked by the poor audio quality.
@SPUDDUE where did you hear that rumor?

@FROGGY: it's also better if you have youtube blocked at work.
