Speed Up iCal Entries with Do-It
Posted by Adam Pash at 12:00 PM on December 11, 2007

Mac OS X only: Freeware, single-use application Do-It provides a quick and simple way to create new iCal appointments without the clicking frenzy required with iCal's default interface. Just launch it whenever you want to add a new appointment, fill out the details (the form is completely Tab-friendly), hit enter and go back to whatever you were doing. It's a simple but wonderful improvement to iCal if the default behaviour has ever gotten on your nerves. Do-It is a free download, Mac OS X only.

Do-It opens ical prior to showing me the entry app, I might as well use ical since it's open.
Now if this was a widget and didn't open ical - that would be extremely useful.

This looks almost exactly like ZooDo, without the natural-language style time/date format, but with Leopard compatibility.

Now that I've had a chance to fiddle with it a little, I see that Do-It has two other advantages over ZooDo. 1) Unlike ZooDo, the developer (a 16-yr-old Aussie!) hasn't dropped off the face of the Earth, and 2) the guy also has a great photo importer that lets you rename and add spotlight comments to your pictures before sending them along to iPhoto, which is exactly something I was looking for.

Does anyone know if there is a small app or widget for OS X that will add appointments in a similar way to Google Calendar?

i'm running Leopard 10.5.1 and entries made with Do-It fail to appear in my iCal's calendars.. There is some sort of note about this on their website:

oh well. it takes about 5 seconds to launch on my G5 iMac anyway. Much too long...
