Make an iPod Touch or iPhone Dock with a Dollar Bill
Posted by Adam Pash at 10:00 AM on December 11, 2007
Already spent enough cash to put that iPhone or iPod touch under the tree that you're not bouncing with excitement at the idea of dropping more cash on a video stand... and you love origami? With Swiss photographer Enrique Pardo's dollar bill stand for the iPhone or iPod touch video you can roll your own DIY stand with nothing more than a dollar-bill-shaped piece of paper. Pardo uses a Benjamin for his stand, but you won't think I'm crazy to suggest you could use a twenty or even (gasp!) a one dollar bill. And if you're giving one of these hot gadgets this holiday season, why not throw in a cheap little stand (there's also the comparatively simple business card stand) and put your gift over the top?

I've needed exactly this type of stand while watching movies on the plane. Now if I can just remember how to make it on my next flight.

Cool! Although I don't understand why the iPhone or iPod Touch would need a stand. My cellphone looks like it feels perfectly fine just lying on the table :P

Nice origami work, however the iPod Touch already comes with a stand that will do the same thing, is engineered to take the weight, isn't affected by humidity... and can't be spent.

For $100, I'd have thought you at least get somewhere you can plug in the iPod for charging.
This is however, one of the best how-to YouTube videos I've ever seen (production-wise). That's some sweet cinematography.

@Greet: Watching videos without a stand means you have to hold it for however long the video is, or lay it flat and watch from directly about it. Have fun holding it for 2 hours to watch a full length movie.

Sweet cinematography indeed. But drawn out and ambiguous if you want to imitate. Wicked soundtrack, anyone know who it is?

Hope Steve Jobs sees this...
Steve, have you seen that video? In Switzerland we have some pretty creative people, I suggest you release the iPhone here pretty soon!!! We have so much cash we can even affort to buy an iPod Touch and use the 100 USD difference between that and the iPhone to create a stand for the device... Come on...

That's a $100 bill. I could just buy one for less.
What's the name of the music, very nice.

@lawksalih: It's indeledebile by LEGO [www.myspace.com]
I can't figure out the part right at the end before he puts the iPhone on the dock. He fold the corners in or something, but I can't really tell. I would have much preferred the instructions in drawing.
