Print a Phone Directory of Facebook Friends
Posted by Kevin Purdy at 12:30 AM on December 4, 2007

The Digital Inspiration weblog has found another Facebook feature that's useful offline as well as on--a compilation of friends who list their phone numbers. To get to it, head to facebook.com/mobile and then hit the "Phonebook" link at the top to get a list that can be printed pretty easily. For another print-worthy Facebook feature, check out how to make a friends collage.

This has been around for a long time -- I always send friends to this page when they put up the inevitable "Give me all your numbers!" note after losing their cell phones.

I use Fonebook to sync Facebook contacts with Outlook Contacts
[ross.dargan.googlepages.com]
Except the only things it WON'T sync are the email addresses and phone-numbers. Obviously I see the security issues here. However, if you've consented to give someone access to this information (by adding them) then I don't see why you shouldn't. Annnyhow... this mobile phonebook feature will be handy to go through all the Outlook contacts manually and make sure the phone numbers are up to date. Thanks LH

Richard, there are some hacks to export email addresses out of Facebook but not sure if Facebook is too happy about them.

I wish you could get something similar for email addresses, but for some reason Facebook seems to treat them as more sensitive than phone numbers, when I personally might have put them the other way round.

This is a great find. There used to be an awesome program where you could download all of the information of all of your Facebook friends into Excel, and thus export right into Outlook. Unfortunately, Facebook changed their code and the program stopped updating, so this is a nice built-in feature, although not wholly ideal because it doesn't let you automatically import.

I'm pretty sure that they're afraid of spammers. If I made an account and made friends with everyone for no reason, then I can just collect everyone's email and harvest them to a master list. I think this is somewhat crippling the features of Facebook, but I guess there's a reason for it.

@Dooga: that is the scenario, but realistically, since Facebook deals with such personal information, are you really going to add random people you don't know? I guess the answer must be "yes", which is quite bizarre. I'd be more concerned about Beacon companies harvesting emails for mass spammage.
