Those "performance boost" reports are based on tests done at exo.blog whose test software as they say themselves, is one of a kind. So I don't really know how effective those results are for a couple of reasons:
1. They said that vista is 2x slow, while all the tests I've read online show a drop of max 10% (except for SPECperf, which shows a drop of max 80%..)
2. They suggest turning off aero and special effects to speed the PC up. I've personally noted as well as read nuff tests, that this doesn't show any real change in performance.
3. At firingsquad, which is the most recent DX test I've seen, it said that there is not much drop in framerate due to newer updates and drivers. I've personally put that to test by using quake 4 (which puts my old PC to its heels) and didn't note a big difference..
