Google Reader Adds Recommendations, Drag-and-Drop Folders
Posted by Kevin Purdy at 12:00 AM on December 1, 2007

Web-based feed aggregator Google Reader has made two improvements to its interface, one Web 2.0-ish and the other pretty darn useful. The change Reader users will really appreciate is the ability to simply grab newly-added feeds and place them in their folders—no more clicking through menu bars, which really helps when doing multi-feed updates. The other new addition is recommendations, which can be found in the "Discover" link and points you to feeds based on your current list, your search history and your location. As you can see, Reader probably knows you better than you'd think.

No wonder Reader didn't load in Opera today. I ended up using the service in Firefox, and then came upon this post, tried out the new trick, and wallah! The drag-n-drop is very convenient.

Wonderful this saves massive amounts of time, I view literally thousands of feeds every week. This will help

I love the recommendations! I'm always looking for new stuff to add to my feeds. I only added two from their list though.

I love the drag and drop. I just tried to do that yesterday and couldn't. Wonderful addition.
But, the recommendations, now I'll never get anything done.
Thanks Google!

Ever since this update was released, my main Google Reader homepage (the main area, not the list of feeds) has been the following:
"Server Error
The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request.
Please try again in 30 seconds."
This occurs in both Firefox and IE, so it can't be some wayward extension messing with the connection. Anyone else seeing this?

Did anybody else notice the Google Reader favicon change to the default google icon?
I just noticed this in Firefox on two different machines...

Looks like the favicon thing was a temporary glitch... it finally went back to normal.
