Get in Shape with the Wii Sports Weight Loss Program
Posted by Adam Pash at 7:00 AM on December 1, 2007
Weblog Wii Healthy--a site dedicated to exercising with your Wii--details a 10-week exercise program for losing weight with Wii Sports. In all, the program consists of approximately 30-45 minutes of active Wii Sports playing per day, from boxing and tennis (which burn the most calories) to bowling and baseball. Your Wii promises to be a workout king once Wii Fit hits the shelves, but until then, the Wii Sports Weight Loss program is worth a bookmark if the Wii is on your Christmas list this year.

I played the tennis the other day at at a mates house, and whilst I found it hugely entertaining (though i did lose!)I really cant see how you could use Wii as a substitute for exercise. My topspin backhand was better than in real life!

@2-7 and others...
I've been wanting my girlfriend to start working out, but she's just as lazy as I am. I've been encouraging her (and others) to get a Wii for me for xmas... if I don't have it by new years, Jan 1st I'm gettin' it.
I've been expressing that I want the system for me, not her... it's a secret.
(hope she doesn't read lifehacker from work)
But I want it more for her to play than for myself. She's big into a lot of games (ps2, 360, etc) so I think just the fact that it's in the house will be good reason to play.
And Wii Boxing.... that's a decent work out.
(ps, yes, I'm shallow... I'm aware)

Taroak, is that true, that is amazing. This kind of work out is actually quite fascinating to me. I think that exercise is a necessary part of life but sometimes the same old routines get old, it would be nice to spice up your work out with some Wii boxing.

I have lost 30 lbs in 1.5 months boxing 3 matches and playing 3-5 games of tennis per night. Baseball is a fun cool down game.

@2-7:
My wife out of the blue asked for one recently, months after seeing one (and making a bunch of Miis) at a friend's house. She's asked me to play games every night this week.
And yes...boxing is a workout!

Wii Boxing is no joke. That'll leave you winded. I think I might play that again soon.

This fits perfectly into my master plan of convincing my girlfriend that she in fact wants a Wii for Christmas.

It's no secret that Wii boxing will, in fact, leave you winded. It makes for really good exercise, but I'm too hung up on Super Mario Galaxy to play anything else.

I have seen impressions of people who bought the jap version a day or two ago of wii fit. I cant wait for wii fit. Its supposed to be a better workout then wii sports.

I got a Wii specifically to prevent my kids (and me) from sitting around while they play games. My three year old has no idea what he's doing when he's boxing, but he has fun doing it! XBOX 360 will have to wait.

@TAROAK:
I have a question, are you combining this with some sort of diet and any other exercising?
