Organise Your Class Schedule with CollegeRuled
Posted by Tamar Weinberg at 3:00 AM on November 21, 2007
Easily build your upcoming spring semester student schedules—complete with courses, lab work, and extra-curricular activities—with webapp CollegeRuled. The site requires an .edu address to register, but once you're in you can input data pertaining to coursework and activities with ease. The site also has a built-in "Assignment Pad" and discussion boards that are designed for students to collaborate with each other. Despite a few bugs I encountered when entering my courses, the application runs well and looks pretty good.

Google Calendar is perfect for this...I use that extensively for all my class work. Who needs yet another login?

I use Schedulizer.com because it ties in directly to my U's class system. So not only can I search and add classes, it will tell me all the possible schedules. I can even choose which sections I would want to attend and it will take that into account.
It's the best class scheduler I've come across.

Hmm.. They didn't have anything like this when I was in college. Honestly, there are some tools out now that make me wish I was back in college just so I could use them!

ERACMAN > Exactly! there's only *one way* to edit the changes to a class. I also made a mistake, but mine (once I found it was at the bottom right of the schedule) was corrected properly.
It would have been so much easier to use the 1-24 system instead of the US-only[and Qc? :P] 12hour one.
I was doing it on excel last semester, but doing it with this website might be a little quicker although it would be nice to have an application where we can place ALL the sections for a class and it would give us all possible choices (like we had back in college). (Ok I'm a developer, but a lazy one so go on people I won't charge you the idea :P)
Bottom line: University's system s*** ;) (At least mine :D) and this program solves part of it freely, quickly. It has some UI problems taht can easily be fixed.

This site has a lot of bugs. I put in my schedule and realized that I made a mistake on the day. No matter what I did it would not reflect the new changes. It also is not very intuitive on where to go to make changes.
Overall, I don't think I will have any use for this site. It is nice though to see what apps are out there for helping us to stay organized. as a full time employee, husband, father, and part-time student, I need all the help I can get.
FYI: What is Oraganize? (A little typo..)

Mmmm need a .edu email, my university doesn't have that. Too bad I had to lie about an email that doesn't even exist.

I like the idea, while yes there are many other collaboration tools out there from my experience as a student a simple straightforward interface was/is always best.
Collaboration by students I think is best adapted in a forum type setting rather than a formal documents type setting plus especially for those whose majors are not too heavy on powerpoint, etc. it also gets rid of some of the bulk. I guess the point is, the differences between this and google online, etc. is a bit like comparing apples and oranges in this case.
Plus the class scheduler is great, for students and profs, plus roommates, family, etc. I always found that class schedule templates were much easier to input and view, just imho. Will check it out more myself.

Who needs another login? Google Calendar (with Thunderbird set up to access it), Google Documents for collaborating, Google Present for the PowerPoint addicts out there and you've got more functionality than this place.
I hardly have to call group meetings now that I integrate everything through Google.

Collaboration? They act as if anyone in any of the various classes I take will be using this thing. How ridiculous. I can't even find more than a few people using the same messaging client let alone some obscure new website.

Overcoming the comments people have left here will be one problem this site has to overcome. And the fact that I just took the time to put my schedule into Sunbird and don't feel like doing it again.
If it has the ability to sync with already existing calendars in programs like Sunbird (something that as far as I can tell Google's can't do) then it will have a leg up. But honestly, with so many other calendar things out there I think it's the only chance it has.

.edu address? Heck, a little white lie never hurt anyone :)
Also, looks like any other so called "revolutionary" organizing web-apps for "students". I'm feeling bored already.
