Google Notebook Adds Labels, Bookmarks
Posted by Kevin Purdy at 11:30 PM on November 2, 2007
Web-clipping service Google Notebook now has two helpful organisation features, labels and bookmark integration, that should make life easier for those who store lots of ideas away for later. Labels make sorting through your clips easier, of course, and web links stored inside the "unfiled" notebook are automatically added to Google Bookmarks. The Google Notebook Firefox extension has also been updated to make adding text notes or bookmarks as easy as clicking on a star button. Looking to get started with Google Notebook? Check out Gina's guide to getting things done with Google Notebook.

How is clicking a star any easier than the previous method?

There is a cool Google Notebook plug-in for Firefox. Which allows you to copy and paste stuff into Google Notebook to e-mail to friends or to follow up on when you want to. I have been using it to copy Lifehacker posts that I want to finish reading when I have time.

That is funny, I got my dad Faulty Towers for his Birthday this year.

Am I the only person who's irritated by the "unfiled" notebook? I don't want it, and not only can I not delete it, I also can't rename it or move it to the bottom of the list. I don't even use Google bookmarks, so I'm not happy to have a new notebook that's pretty much worthless to me and that I have no control over.

I started using gnotes a while back in it's early stage just to try it out but stopped using it shortly after as I didn't have much use for it. However, I do have use for it now. The problem is I must have imported my bookmarks into it as notes, though I don't remember doing it, and now have 1130 notes filed under the "unfiled" section. While I could just ignore them and setup other notes I'd like to start fresh.
My problem is that I can't seem to find a way to select all of them, or even more than one, so I can delete them.
My questions is, how do I select all notes and delete them? Any help would be appreciated.

I just started using Gina's GTD system last week and I have been trying to add creation and completion dates in the comments section. I seem to forget pretty often. The automatic dating should help me out a bit.
I'm glad to see some improvements. Shows that the G isn't letting Notebook collect too much dust.

Is Google Notebook actually used? Or maybe I should really be asking how do people use Google Notebook.. it seems that most people (myself included) seem to suffice with text editors.
The labels and bookmarks is a nice feature, and I suppose is a step up, but until Google Notebook can be something I can use (as a student), I may still pass on this.

Now if they would just acquire stikkit.com and make the Notebook truly useful by fully integrating it with Gmail and Calendar along with a To Do function!
I do think this is nice, but I for one am a little disappointed with the lack of innovation on Notebook and Gmail. The smaller dot coms are really doing some amazing things and Google seems to be very slow to pick up learnings from them of late. I hope they will prove me wrong in the months ahead, but I see a Microsoft-like complacency developing in core businesses. (Google Reader, thankfully, being a major exception.)

And a date is now clearly visible for each note. I have been using Gina's GTD Notebook system for almost 4 months now, and suddenly seeing these dates in my lists is a bit...uhm.. confronting.

I really hope Google adds Google Notebook to Google Apps for Your Domain.
