Update Your Quicksilver, Don't Panic
Posted by Adam Pash at 9:30 AM on November 1, 2007
If you've been trying to download and install Quicksilver in order to get Leopard up to snuff, you've probably noticed that the Quicksilver site is down. In fact, it's been down for quite a few days now. Fear not, Quicksilver lovers, as the application's developer contacted us to let us know that the last version we posted about included a bug that caused some Quicksilver installations to ping for updates like crazy, which brought down the homepage. That, consequently, has meant no one has been able to download Quicksilver or any Quicksilver plugins for a few days. So, whether you want to install Quicksilver fresh or you've already got it installed, go grab the latest version from the link below (it's a direct link) and help put out the fire for the folks who who so kindly bring us Quicksilver free of charge.

@Petrarch1603: really? you can move files/email/append text/set a timer from the new Spotight? sounds like you don't know what you're getting with QS.

Mh, it seems like if they have even a remotely-decent web-host, the company should be able to filter out those pings higher-up on routers before it reaches the server, exactly the same way they do with DDoS attacks (Which this is, really) - especially since all the broken-clients will be doing the exact same thing (I.e drop all connections from clients requesting /updatesavailableyet??!.htm)

Not that the developer is such a deviously brilliant individual, but what better way to judge the "must-have" quotient of your product than to take it away from people for a while. Clearly quicksilver love runs deep, I myself am a fiend.

What about plugins? I've found a site that offers them but hesitate to post it in case of problems.
