Batch Process Images with Photo Drop
Posted by Gina Trapani at 8:00 PM on October 24, 2007

Mac OS X only: Resize, rotate or convert multiple digital images at once with Photo Drop, a small utility that creates programmable image editing droplets. Launch Photo Drop and set the actions you want to perform, like rotating, padding, cropping, resizing, resampling or adding copyright or other meta info and save your droplet. Then, drag and drop any number of images onto the droplet, which processes them and saves them. Great for making high-res digital photos fit for email, watermarking your stuff or resizing a group of images for your blog, Photo Drop is a free download (donations encouraged) for Mac only. Thanks, Susie!

Leopard's new version of preview says it will have batch processing for stuff like this. Let's hope it's implemented well!

Scaling via one dimension in Automator? Now why would that be? I'm not at the Mac to test this but I'm almost certain Automator isn't stupid enough to allow you to only STRETCH an image across one dimension. Surely the aspect ratio is maintained when scaling.

Not in as much detail. For example, the "scale image" action in Automator only seems to allow changes along one dimensions.
Nice app! Should make it a lot easier to resize images for my blog.

@inthepit: There's a Microsoft PowerToy called Image Resizer that can do batch resizing in a pinch. Just install it, right-click a bunch of images, select "Resize Pictures," choose the size you want, and bam, you're done.

Small (784kb), efficient, cute.
