Integrate Remember The Milk's To-Do Cow With Google Reader

Posted by Adam Pash at 4:00 AM on October 9, 2008

Firefox with Greasemonkey: The Remember The Milk Cow in Google Reader Greasemonkey script integrates web-based to-do list application Remember the Milk with popular newsreader Google Reader. After installing the user script and reload Google Reader, you'll notice RTM's cow-head icon next to items in Google Reader. Clicking the link opens a RTM mobile window with the item's title, the URL for the post, and a default tag ('website') already filled in. This handy little addition to Google Reader makes it easy to create a to-do or reminder from something you just read, and if you're already using the previously mentioned RTM in Gmail extension, you're Google account just integrated that much more with your to-do list. Thanks wavetheory!

RTM Notifier Puts Remember The Milk Alerts On Your Desktop

Posted by Adam Pash at 8:00 AM on October 8, 2008

Windows/Mac/Linux: Free application RTM Notifier periodically checks in with popular to-do list web site Remember the Milk and displays notifications for time-sensitive tasks. The goal of the application is two-fold: On one level, it's just a notification tool, displaying pop-up alerts for due tasks. Beyond that, it's a desktop entry point for your RTM tasks. Both features could be improved upon (especially since RTM has an open API), but if you manage all your to-dos with RTM, it might be worth checking out. RTM Notifier is a free download, requires Adobe AIR.

Remember The Milk's Co-Founder On The Future Of Task Management

Posted by Kevin Purdy at 3:00 AM on October 1, 2008

Web-based task manager Remember the Milk is one of our Lifehacker readers' favourites, and for good reason. The web-centered service has expanded since its inception in 2005 to work with tons of platforms, apps, and interfaces, yet it's remained focused on doing what it does best—telling you what needs to happen next, no matter where you are. We wanted to learn more about how Remember the Milk was born, gets upgraded, and where it wants to go in the future, so we traded a few emails with Emily Boyd, one of the webapp's co-founders, who is based in Sydney. Read on to hear Boyd's answers to our burning questions about RTM. Thanks to Jason F. for the photo illustration!

Control Remember The Milk From Ubiquity

Posted by Kevin Purdy at 10:30 PM on September 29, 2008

Firefox with Ubiquity: Command-line quickness and universal task managers go together like milk and ultra-organised cookies. Developer Gary Hodgson realised this and created a super-useful interface for universal to-do manager Remember the Milk inside Ubiquity, the natural language, terminal-style extension that we've taken a shine to. The command plug-in allows registered RTM users to log in and out, add and complete tasks with suggested auto-completions, and offers visual cues when tasks are seriously overdue or high-priority. RTM for Ubiquity is a free download; Firefox users with Ubiquity installed can install the command by visiting the link below (and approving third-party installation).

Tasque Manages To-Dos with Remember the Milk Integration

Posted by Kevin Purdy at 1:00 AM on September 16, 2008

Linux only: Free to-do manager Tasque is a clean, unobtrusive interface for managing your to-do items on your Linux desktop. The program can run with its own local database of tasks, or can integrate with an Evolution-based workflow. Tasque gets really helpful, however, when hooked up to the web-based task manager Remember the Milk. Importing, completing, and adding tasks with a smart text box all work perfectly with RTM. You can add notes to a task with a right-click, but tagging looks like it has to be handled from RTM's web interface. If you're a fan of simple to-do lists you can access from your desktop or the web, Tasque is a great solution. Tasque is a free download for Linux systems only; hit the via link below for help installing its repositories in Ubuntu.

Manage Tasks and Calendars from Gmail

Posted by Kevin Purdy at 11:08 PM on August 20, 2008

Earlier this week, we highlighted a Greasemonkey script for Firefox that puts Google Calendar into a right-hand sidebar in Gmail. That in itself makes Gmail a pretty good organiser, but what if you like to keep your appointments and scheduling separate from your actual tasks? Enter hyper-connected web organiser Remember the Milk, which can integrate your GTD-style tasks into that Calendar sidebar. There's a few other tricks to making it all work smoother, so let's get started turning Gmail into a one-stop page for all your daily data.

Embed Remember the Milk on Your Windows Desktop

Posted by Adam Pash at 8:00 AM on July 2, 2008

Weblog Third Error suggests a clever use for your Windows Active Desktop: Embed your Remember the Milk to-do list on your wallpaper. In all it's pretty standard use of the oft-disregarded Active Desktop, but the main trick is that you subscribe to the Remember the Milk iGoogle gadget so you get a nice, clean interface for your to-do list directly on your desktop. We've detailed how to embed your local to-do list before, but if you're a RTM user, this slight tweak is a must-have for your desktop.
