Back in January, we told you how you could add your own voice to a Garmin GPS. Now there’s a similar option for Nokia users running the Ovi Maps application, via its Own Voice application.
Another day, another slapdown of companies ignoring Australian consumer law by the ACCC. This time, it’s Nokia Care Centres under the microscope, with the phone service organisation promising to withdraw unacceptable terms and conditions.
It may not have an iTunes-like aura, but Nokia’s Ovi applications store for its mobile phones appears to be doing alright down under. According to Nokia, Australia is one of the top 15 markets for the service, which attracts 1.5 million downloads a day wordwide, and number three in terms of revenue, suggesting that (unusually) we’re not just in it for the free stuff.
Maemo 5 Phones: Moving right along from the release candidate, Firefox Mobile has arrived in 1.0 form on phones like the N900 that run Maemo. It’s got add-ons, an AwesomeBar, desktop syncing through Weave, and pleny more to recommend it.
