Belvedere Automated File Manager Updates to 0.3 with New Features, Bug Fixes

Windows only: Lifehacker’s in-house Automated Windows File Manager and all-around snooty British housekeeper for your hard drive, Belvedere, is seeing it’s third release. If you’re unfamiliar with Belvedere, it’s designed to help you keep your desktop or any other folder on your hard drive clean and organised by allowing you to create advanced rules for moving, copying, recycling, or renaming files based on a handful of conditions. Among several bug fixes, the latest Belvedere features more security measures intended to prevent unintended data loss, the ability to create more complex conditions, and a new feature that allows you to test your rules so you can see what files your rules will match before you save and start using the rule. Hit the jump for a closer look at the new features and to download the latest Belvedere.

Better YouTube Extension Now Includes High Res Option

All platforms with Firefox: Just uploaded a new version of the Better YouTube Firefox extension which now includes support for YouTube’s high resolution videos. You already know that a simple URL hack can magically up the quality of some videos; now with Better YouTube installed, no URL modification’s required. I highly recommend turning on YouTube HD with the Theater View in Better YouTube’s options for quite the viewing experience. Grab the update from Firefox’s Add-ons dialog, or click through to download it manually. Thanks to all the commenters for requesting this addition and to Yansky, YouTube Greasmonkey scripter extraordinaire, for the excellent user script. Better Gmail Loves You with Fixes and Features

Firefox only: Happy Valentine’s Day, Better Gmail users! A nasty bug and some Firefox 3 issues have kept some of you from using the extension in the last few days, but no more. New fixes and improvements are fresh out of the oven like pink icing-slathered Valentine’s Day cupcakes: the latest version 0.3.3 restores our beloved Hide Spam Count feature, Brent Nef’s amazing Modfied Gmail Macros script, includes Firefox 3 Beta 3 compatibility, and fixes the hanging inbox bug (caused by the Google Reader Integration script, which, sadly, was our one casualty). Grab the latest version of Better Gmail 2 using Firefox’s built-in Find Updates button, or hit the link to grab the download. Better Gmail 2 is, of course, a free download for Firefox users.
