Lifehacker Australia interviews Linus Torvalds

Linus Torvalds is one of the most influential hackers in modern computing, having created the Linux kernel as an open source alternative to the Unix operating system.  He’s since spent nearly 20 years  maintaining the kernel in a leadership role (as well as continuing to have an active coding role) through the Linux Foundation.

Linus is a regular attendee at Linux.conf.au (last year he was spotted tooling around the conference on a home brew Segway – possibly the geekiest moment in history). He’s back again for LCA this year, and we were thrilled to score an interview with him yesterday.

Lifehacker AU to interview Crikey's Stephen Mayne

This week I had the opportunity to interview independent journalist-cum-shit stirrer Stephen Mayne - the founder of Crikey, and more recently the Australian social news aggregator Kwoff and the shareholder activist and news website, The Mayne Report.
How did a technophobe manage to create one of Australia's most successful independent online news services, and end up videoblogging on YouTube? It's an interesting story and you'll see it on Lifehacker AU later this week. :)

Interview with A Climate Affair's Kate Conroy

Kate Conroy is the creator of A Climate Affair – a weekly environmental podcast which is broadcast from Brisbane-based internet radio station Planet Radio 88fm. The show's been going since February of this year, when Kate decided to channel her passion for the environment and took the leap into internet radio broadcasting for the first time. Since then, A Climate Affair has become Australia's top environmental podcast, hitting number 5 on the iTunes podcast chart in April.
