There’s something to be said for simplicity. Today’s design sticks to a basic palette, but still manages to include plenty of information with a layout that conveys some depth.

Android: Anyone who has ever walked the streets of New York City has felt the movement and energy of the city. Today’s home screen aims to capture a bit of that with some stark contrast and intense angles.

If old cartoons taught us anything, it’s that monochrome colour palettes go pretty well with a dash of red. My Color Screen user JRS takes this approach with today’s home screen design.

“Simple with a splash of colour” is a pretty common theme in interface design. This look goes down a traditional path with a distinct flair, going for simple outlines and text on bright backgrounds.
