Del.izzy Searches Content Inside Del.icio.us Bookmarks

Posted by Kevin Purdy at 10:32 PM on August 19, 2008

Search site del.izzy combs through the actual word content of your bookmarks on (newly re-launched) social bookmarking service Del.icio.us. So if you vaguely remember, for example, bookmarking a guide to hacking your router, but the link has one of those annoyingly non-specific titles ("w00t x 25! Awesome hack!"), you can find it with a quick search here. The site notes that it occasionally gets throttled by the Del.icio.us overlords; in that case, head over to previously mentioned Google hack deliGoo and try your luck there.

Favthumbs Visualises Your Del.icio.us Bookmarks

Posted by Kevin Purdy at 12:00 AM on July 12, 2008

Mac users of Del.icio.us' social bookmarking service already have a crisp and slick visualisation tool in Delish; for the rest of us, Favthumbs might just be the next best thing. Type in a del.icio.us username (and password, if you want to see non-shared items), and the site whips up screenshot thumbs of your links in a surprisingly short time. There are two view modes, a grid layout and CoverFlow-like turnstile, and you can hit "Sync" to update your bookmarks. That's about it—and that's all that's needed for most users. Favthumbs is a free application, no sign-up required.

Swurl Aggregates Your Online Activity in a Calendar

Posted by Adam Pash at 8:00 AM on July 3, 2008

Web site Swurl aggregates your online activity in a simple blog-like format. From del.icio.us bookmarks and favourite YouTube videos to Twitter posts and Flickr photos, Swurl pulls it all into a simple blog-like interface. On the surface Swurl sounds similar to previously mentioned FriendFeed, but it's actually got a much different feel and offers a lot of customisation. Swurl's timeline feature stands out most, placing your links, photos, and other activities on a calendar timeline. For a nice example, check out Swurl founder Ryan Sit's Swurl page; if you like what you see, starting your own Swurl is free.

Cocoalicious Is Your Dedicated Del.icio.us Browser

Posted by Adam Pash at 11:00 PM on June 29, 2008

Mac OS X only: Free, open-source application Cocoalicious is a dedicated browser for navigating your bookmarks from social bookmarking site del.icio.us. The app provides a three-pane browsing interface similar to many newsreaders, with tags on the left, bookmark titles on top, and a browser window below displaying each bookmark as you click on it. You can quickly search your bookmarks—including title, description, and tags—through an as-you-type search box, and adding a new bookmark in Cocoalicious will automatically sync up to your del.icio.us account. The download page even has a bookmarklet you can use to send bookmarks directly to Cocoalicious, which supports tag autocompletion and all that good stuff. Cocoalicious is free, Mac OS X only.

Import Your Del.icio.us Bookmarks and Tags to Firefox 3

Posted by Adam Pash at 4:00 AM on June 28, 2008

Web utility del.icio.us to Firefox merges your bookmarks from social bookmarking web site del.icio.us—tags and all—with your existing Firefox 3 bookmarks. Why might you want to do this? Because the new and improved bookmarking functionality in Firefox 3 supports tagging, but since previous versions of Firefox did not, you've already got tons of bookmarks with no tags.

Del.icio.us Bookmarks Plug-In Now Available for Internet Explorer

Posted by Kevin Purdy at 6:30 AM on May 15, 2008

Windows/Internet Explorer only: Yahoo has released a beta version of their browser plug-in for social bookmarking tool del.icio.us for Internet Explorer. It'll look pretty familiar to anyone who's used their del.icio.us Bookmarks Firefox add-on (original post), with toolbar buttons for quick bookmarking and tag browsing, and complete integration and syncing with local bookmarks. It's still faster and more convenient than heading to del.icio.us or utilising tag-required bookmarklets, however. The del.icio.us add-on runs on Internet Explorer 6, 7, and even the IE8 beta on Windows XP and Vista.

Delicious bookmark addon now available for Internet Explorer

Australian Post Posted by Sarah Stokely at 6:16 PM on May 14, 2008

Social bookmarking tool Del.icio.us has had a Firefox extension for a while, and now Yahoo has released a beta version for Internet Explorer too. You can download the extension here.
Features include a del.icio.us Sidebar and Toolbar which will already be familiar to users of the Firefox version.
It promises "near instantaneous" searching with very large accounts of over 10,000 bookmarks. Other features include full del.icio.us sidebar and toolbar implementation with bookmark sync and typedown search.
It is just in beta at the moment, so the usual warnings apply. The Del.icio.us Internet Explorer Extension works with Internet Explorer 6 and above.[via]

Delish Manages and Thumbnails Your Del.icio.us Bookmarks

Posted by Adam Pash at 6:00 AM on May 8, 2008

Mac OS X only: Browse your Del.icio.us bookmarks like never before with freeware beta application Delish. URLs weren't mean to be viewed as text, according to the minds behind Delish, so the software provides a visual interface for your bookmarks by creating thumbnail snapshots of all the links, which it displays in an attractive, easy-to-use interface. Delish even supports multi-touch pinch and scroll gestures for owners of new MacBook Pros and Airs—though unfortunately you can't create a new bookmark with it. Delish is currently freeware, Mac OS X only.

De.licio.us Extension Beta Plays Nice in Firefox 3 ·  Social bookmarking service del.icio.us has updated their extension to work in Firefox 3, even though Firefox 3 has bookmark tagging baked in. The extension release is beta (as is Firefox 3, obviously) so testers, give it a whirl. [via]
