Let The ACCC Know What You Think About Postage Increases
August 28th, 2009 at 8:42 PMAuspost does less business since we do more emailing. Just think of how many letters were not sent in the last ten years because of emailing. And therefore how much less income for auspost.
Yet snail mailing is still essential. We still need it to get that tech gadget we bought on ebay. we should gladly agree to this small increase to keep an essential service going.
Discover Your Life's Purpose In Around 20 Minutes
July 26th, 2009 at 4:21 PMAnything that even gets us to.think abt our lifes purppose is good. Thousands of years has made us humans very good at fulfilling our material needs: food, shelter, comfort. Modern tech just refines that a bit further. But we are still not focussed on much more than barter. The economic model of the caveman. Sure, ours looks a lot more sophis. But still barter. When the barter is over, what is life for? Maybe sometime soon we cn focus our wisdom, or whatever is left of it, on that question.
HLO Day 22: Why Airport Shuttles Bite
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:24 PMBad weather forced me and my family to stopover at Miami a couple of years ago. At 10.45pm we booked by phone a local hotel from some list we found at the mostly-closed airport. A regular shuttle would collect us. An hour later, still no shuttle for our hotel, although dozens of other shuttles passed by. We phoned back and the booking service acknowledged that the shuttle service had stopped earlier. It is a particularly depressing feeling when you realise that, for the bored and tired person who accepted your phone booking, a half hour is just a mouthful of words but to you it is the reality that prevents you getting to your hotel until 2.30am (by us$50 worth of taxi).
Invoiceplace Manages Your Invoicing And Finances
May 22nd, 2009 at 4:41 PMThis looks quite good. I spent many hours downloading and trying various types of software for invoicing. I ended up using quicken 2007 to create invoices. I can email these or print them.
The main drawback is that they remain separate to my Quicken accounts. I cannot click on a paid invoice and have it automatically entered in an account register.
A nice thing about Quicken invoicing is that I can add my own logo quite easily. Designing the invoice is also easy.
Battle Looming Over Do Not Call Register
May 19th, 2009 at 7:30 AMWhat about a DO NOT FAX register? It would be nice to use my fax ink for faxes I want to receive and not for unsolicited spam faxes.
