Get Back Some Of Inbox’s Features With Darwin Mail

If you, like many of us, have been missing Google’s Inbox since it shut down last year, Darwin Mail might be a good replacement. The service works with your Gmail account to bring many of the best features of Inbox back to your inbox.

Specifically, the service allows you to Snooze your emails, has a built-in Dark Mode, Custom Backgrounds, an Undo Send feature, Reminders, and email Templates you can use to save you time when you’re sending the same message over and over again.

You know, all those things you loved about Inbox and miss now that they’re gone. My personal favourite feature: there’s a toggle at the top of your inbox where you can briefly escape to “Inbox Zero” when your inbox gets too overwhelming.

Rather than downloading an app or installing a web extension, you access Darwin Mail by logging in through Darwin’s website with your Google account info.

Darwin says it doesn’t store any of your data on its servers, so when you log out all your email goes along with you. It will also never record, distribute, or sell your personal data to third parties, and the service is hosted over an HTTPS connection where all communication is encrypted.

Beyond all those added features, Darwin has a nearly identical look and feel to traditional Gmail. Logging in myself I couldn’t really tell a huge difference between the two, and if I hadn’t logged in personally to my account using Darwin I might have easily just presumed it was traditional Gmail with a slightly different look to it.
