Get Closer To Doing A Handstand In 12 Minutes

Video: Do you dream of doing handstands? Me too. This video will not make you a handstand master, but it will help you stretch your wrists and come closer to finding your balance over your hands.

I followed the video all the way through, but every time Dylan Werner described a movement as a gentle “floating”, for example picking your feet up from the ground, I tended to heave myself forward and collapse with a thump. That’s OK. I doubt even Dylan Werner emerged from the womb able to do graceful handstands. He must have practised sometime, though, and it seems to have worked out pretty well for him. So why not try?

To do this video, you’ll need a yoga mat (or better yet, a cushy carpet) and a wall. I couldn’t do the up-and-down-the-wall movement that he demonstrates, so I just put my feet on the wall and tried to get comfortable. To my surprise, I did, for a fleeting moment. Here’s hoping you’ll find one of those fleeting moments, too.

Difficulty: Hard.

Modifications: If you don’t expect to get off the ground, just practise shifting your weight. That brings this down to easy/medium level.

Sweat factor: No sweat.
