Use A Mind Map To Figure Out What You Want To Do With Your Life

We’ve talked before about using mind maps as a means to kickstart creativity, but former Google career coach Jenny Blake suggests using one to figure out your personal goals for the year.

The idea here is extremely simple. Start by placing 2017 in the centre, then draw spokes for different themes that are important to you. This is broad stuff like skill building, social relationships or career paths. Then, add on some experiments you want to do in each of those categories. The goal is to give yourself an idea of what to do next by thinking about what you actually want, not how to get there. Of course, you’ll need to figure out the how to get there part eventually, but this is still a useful experiment for when you’re not even sure where to start.
