This DIY Platform Bed Saves Space, Has Tons Of Storage

Arranging a decent-sized bed and other furniture in a small living space can feel like Tetris on hard mode, but if you’re up for a weekend project, you don’t have to sacrifice that much space with this DIY full-size platform bed. This video shows you how.

Chris Heider from the video created this neat platform bed out of IKEA kitchen cabinets, framing boards and a little ingenuity. The bed shown here is a full-size mattress that measures 137cm by 191cm. Based on the mattress’ measurements, Heider figured he can fit three IKEA kitchen cabinets, which measured 61cm high by 38cm deep by 76cm wide, along the length of the mattress, followed by four cabinets of varying heights and widths to create the steps to the platform bed.

The rest of it involves painstaking assembly and making careful measurements and adjustments.

If you’re up for the challenge, check out the video for the full details.
