The First Builds Of Lineage OS, CyanogenMod’s Successor, Are Now Live

While CyanogenMod, the popular custom ROM for Android, may be dead, its spirit lives on in Lineage OS. Now, the first builds of that ROM are available for the Nexus 6P, 5X and a few other devices.

Over the weekend, the Lineage OS team uploaded the first few builds of the new ROM. So far it’s pretty sparse, but it includes a few devices that are popular among the custom ROM crowd:

  • Nexus 5X
  • Nexus 6P
  • Moto G4/G4 Plus
  • Nextbit Robin
  • Xiaomi Redmi 1S

The team has also posted a list of all the devices they plan to target here. There’s a long way to go before they reach that goal, but the ball is rolling. If you want to try out Lineage OS and you’re one of the lucky few with one of these devices, you can check it out at the downloads page below. If your phone isn’t on the list, check back on that page in the future to keep an eye out for your phone.
