Telstra is offering free calls from its network of over 16,000 payphones during the Christmas period. Here’s what you need to know.
Most of us take our mobile phones for granted. For those who don’t have access to a phone service this Christmas to speak with loved ones, you can now make local calls through Telstra payphones for free.
The telco is offering free calls on its payphones between December 24 (Christmas Eve) and 28 December.
“Christmas can be an extremely tough time for many Australians who are either going through a difficult time themselves or are missing someone they love,” CEO of charity organisation Sacred Heart Mission Cathy Humphrey said. “There are many reasons people might lose contact with friends and family. With financial barriers removed, we’re encouraging anyone who is apart from their loved ones this Christmas to give them a call.”
You can find a Telstra payphone near you with this handy locator site. Pass this information on to somebody who doesn’t have a phone to use this Christmas.

How sweet, Telstra believes people still use pay phones.
Nah, they’re just gathering evidence to give to the government to justify their removal – that they don’t even get used when you make them FREE.
Now I just have to find the 1 pay phone in Australia.
