In Pictures: Our Favourite Reader Workspaces

Featured Workspace is a regular Lifehacker feature where we highlight the desktop setups where people work, play, relax and get stuff done. Over the past few years, we’ve looked at more workstations, battlestations and office spaces and gaming dens than we can count. Here are some of our personal favourites.

The Minimal Ultrawide Workspace

Over at the battlestations subreddit, repens picked up a shiny new ultrawide monitor and wanted to do something a little different with his desk to accomodate it. The end result is this good-looking, minimal, distraction-free setup.

The Gamer’s Triple Monitor Workspace

It’s not often I see triple monitor setups that actually look sharp — I mean really sharp — and this one fits the bill. Evexium shares this workspace, packed with three displays mounted to the wall, and great cable management.

The Triple Monitor, Dual Desk Workspace

Chuckles17 just finished setting up his workspace, and the end result looks great. Check out this short video tour above, and some more photos of the triple-monitor setup — and a second workspace off to the left — below.

The DIY Butcher Block and Pipe Workstation

ksmithbaylor built this gorgeous butcher block and steel pipe workstation, and we love it. Sure, it’s spacious and clean, but hats off to the DIY spirit, and for making it all work, work well, and look good. Here are some more photos of the finished setup.

The Minimalist’s Work and Play Space

Video editor and redditor Alex Mitchell put together this amazing video of his workspace — it’s minimal, clean, has plenty of room to work and spread out, and of course, keeps work (his Macbook Pro) front and center, and play (his PS4) lurking just around the corner. We love it, and here are some more photos.

The Music Lover’s Corner Workspace

One monitor dedicated to music, and another completely for getting things done? We can get along with that idea. Jan Smedemark submitted this sharp but practical workspace, and as fellow music lovers, we appreciate his priorities.

The Extremely Pixel-Dense Workspace

Redditor jamend loves screen real estate, and so do we. He’s rocking four displays in this shot, a 4K display in the center, two 1440p displays on either side, in portrait mode, and a 4K TV just above. Best of all, that’s not all the great gear he uses to get stuff done. Here’s a full rundown.

The One Room Work and Play Space

lorby351‘s workspace is tucked into the side of the living room, but that doesn’t mean it’s not sharp, well organised, and perfect for settling in to get some real work — or play — done. Here are some more photos.

The Arcade Work and Play Space

Over at Flickr, tadashiiman (and reader TadBravo!) shares these beautiful photos of where he works, plays, and makes art, and we couldn’t be more in love. A standing arcade cabinet, dual-display setup, and solid sound? We’re down.

The Custom Wood Ultrawide Workspace

Over on the battlestations subreddit, damienslash offers up his new setup to the crowd, complete with a beautiful custom desk, ultrawide monitor, and some other touches we can really get behind.

The All Watercooled, Pilot and Co-Pilot Glass-Top Workspace

Over on the battlestations subreddit, Sarne shared this beautiful setup with a side-by-side computers in a custom desk with an open top and LEDs so you can see the inside. The whole thing is just beautiful.

The Rick and Morty Workspace

marsem‘s white-and-wood workspace looks beautifully clean, organised, sports some great gear, and is that Rick and Morty over there? Why yes, yes it is. Here are some more photos.

The Secret Wooden Workspace

Steven Wilke‘s basement video production and editing studio is wood paneled, all hand-designed and built, and looks fantastic. He pulled that basement space back to the walls to build the workspace of his dreams, and the finished product definitely shows.

The College Corner Workspace

It might look huge at first, what with the sheer amount of gear in the shot, but Adam is a college student, and this is his room. Some smart use of vertical space and you have a nook that’s perfect for work and play.
