Your shower curtain gets filthy and smelly over time, but the good news is, it’s easy enough to clean. Just toss it in the wash.

Sure, you could just replace your curtain, or try to scrub it down from the tub, but as the Krazy Coupon Lady explains, it’s safe (and a lot easier) to throw it in the wash. You can just toss it in next time you clean a batch of towels:
Throw in some regular detergent or bicarbonate of soda along with a few towels with the liner to help scrub away the toughest stains.
It’s a simple enough household tip, and a good reminder to clean that filthy thing every now and then.

There’s no way in hell I’d throw towels in with a shower curtain. In my experience, mould is the biggest culprit for funky smelling shower curtains and it will transfer some of it to your towels, making them smell bad, trust me I’ve tried it. Usually, depending on how long it’s been between washes, the mould will be invisible, but when it gets visible, all you need to do is spray some mould killer or diluted bleach on it. You can then either keep using it or better still, when the mould is dead, wash it by itself, with some soap powder and maybe a little more bleach.
