Keep Your Vacuum Running Like New In Four Easy Steps

Keep Your Vacuum Running Like New In Four Easy Steps

If you want your vacuum cleaner to keep working as well as it did the day you bought it, you have to keep it clean. Doing these four simple things will make sure it keeps on sucking.

In this video from the Consumer Reports YouTube channel, Dan DiClerico demonstrates four essential vacuum maintenance tips you should do on a regular basis:

  1. Empty out the dustbin after every use.
  2. Clean the foam filter under running water, but don’t wring or twist it to get the excess water out. Gently squeeze out the water and let it air dry.
  3. Remove hair build up and other gunk from the brush with a pair of scissors or a seam ripper.
  4. Check the vacuum’s hose for clogs with a broom handle.

The entire process shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes, and it will ensure your vacuum keeps running efficiently. The better your vacuum works, the more dirt and debris it can pick up.
