You Can Now Get The Xbox One S In ‘Deep Blue’ And ‘Storm Grey’

To celebrate the release of Battlefield 1 and Gears Of War 5, Microsoft is releasing two new-look versions of its Xbox One S video game console. The Xbox One S Gears of War 4 Special Edition is dark blue, whereas the Xbox One S Battlefield 1 Special Edition is finished in grey. Both will be available from November 1 for $399 and come bundled with the aforementioned games.

We’re big fans of the Xbox One S here at Lifehacker. It’s currently the cheapest 4K Blu-ray player on the market which, if you’re a videophile, is the only reason you need to snap one up. In addition, it adds HDR gaming and streaming capabilities, a built-in power supply and an improved controller compared to the Xbox One. It’s also a whopping 40 per cent smaller.

One problem people had with the Xbox One S was its stark white finish which was reminiscent of the Nintendo Wii. This is an issue that the new models’ colour palettes are looking to remedy.

The new-look console bundles are as follows:

  • Xbox One S Gears of War 4 Special Edition 500GB Bundle in Deep Blue: available 1 Nov 2016 exclusively at Microsoft Store and EB Games for $399
  • Xbox One S Gears of War 4 1TB Bundle – available 11th Oct 2016 at Microsoft Store and selected retailers from $499
  • Xbox One S Battlefield 1 Special Edition 500GB Bundle in Storm Grey – available 1 Nov 2016 exclusively at JB Hi-Fi and Microsoft Store for RRP AU$399

There’s also a new Xbox One S Minecraft Favourites bundle which comes in the original white finish. Like the Gears of War 4 and Battlefield 1 Special Editions, it will be available from 1 November for $399.

The Gears of War 4 and Battlefield 1 bundles come with a matching controller. Note that the “bundled” games are in the form of a digital download code. You’re basically getting the included game for free though, so y’know; gift horses and all that.
