The CIA-Approved Briefcase Recorder

While it’s much easier to carry around a recorder these days, in the 1950s, recording top secret conversations was far more difficult. Here’s the CIA’s solution.

It’s hard to make out exactly who makes the briefcase, but inside is a reel-to-reel recorder that can be triggered with a switch attached to the outside of the briefcase. This particular setup was likely used to record visiting Soviet diplomats during the Cold War.
