Stimulate Your Creativity With Weekly ‘Artist Dates’

Whether you’re a writer, painter, or photographer, creativity needs to be nurtured. If you want to avoid an artist’s block, schedule yourself some time to go think and explore.

In Julia Cameron’s book, The Artist’s Way, she recommends you take yourself on an ‘artist date’ once every week. This can be anything you like as long as it gets you thinking and gives you time for ideas to percolate in your mind. And it’s best if you enjoy these few hours every week alone. You can head to the beach, go to a museum, treat yourself to a nice dinner, or do what I do and just go for a long walk while listening to music that moves you. Sometimes you just need a change of scenery to get the creative juices flowing again.
