Use A Coffee Filter As A Makeshift Basting Brush


Unfamiliar kitchens (such as those in holiday rentals) can really throw off one’s cooking game. If you happen to find yourself in one that lacks a basting brush and you have fowl to roast, do not fret: a coffee filter can save the day.

As Rachel Tepper Paley explains in her guide to “MacGyvering your Airbnb kitchen,” (linked in full below) a coffee filter is absorbent enough to sop up all of those delicious pan juices, but tough enough to get those juices to your chicken or whatever without falling apart. Just make sure you use a clean filter; nobody wants coffee ground chicken.
