This Online Course, Designed By Aussies, Teaches You How To Survive On Mars

If you watched The Martian and wondered if you too could have the chutzpah and know-how to make it on Mars, then here’s awesome news: You can now sign up for an actual online course that will teach you the basics to survival if you ever find yourself stranded on the red planet. Best of all, the course is free.

The course, offered by FutureLearn and created by Monash University, is a four-week program that will explain the key scientific principles to producing your own water, oxygen, food, and energy on Mars, where if you recall, none of these things naturally exist. Anyone can sign up for the course, even if you don’t have any background in the life sciences.

The important thing is that you’re willing to learn and then help the rest of us survive when we someday make it to Mars. You still have time to sign up for the first class, starting October 24.
